MUNRO TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
October 14, 2003

PRESENT: Antkoviak, Ginop, Dotski, Tracey, Haig

OTHERS PRESENT: Jackie & Quinter Burnett, Audrey Valot, Pam Knaffle, Walt & Paul Nows, Richard Buehler, Wil Mandrick, Don Rader, Ed Ginop

Supervisor Antkoviak called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Munro Hall.

Minutes of Sept. 9, 2003 Haig made the motion to accept the September 9, 2003 minutes, supported by Tracey.

CORRESPONDENCE: Annual fees for assessors stayed the same, $50.00, fees for home study course is $400.00.

Exemption for parks owned by local governments. Munro Township does not own any parks. 

The Cheboygan County Humane Society is asking for donation money by way of a grant. Munro will consider donating when we prepare the budget for next year.

Tracey made a motion to pay the bills amounting to $10,994.51, Haig second the motion. Motion carried.

The heat exchanger on the township hall furnace is cracked, the furnace needs to be replaced. Spray's Plumbing & Heating said a new furnace would cost $1500.00 It was suggested that the Clerk send out requests for bids to Werner's, Spray's, Harry & Jerry and H & B Plumbing & Heating.

A Resolution from the Inverness Fire Dept. Joint Administrative Board was read, thanking the Munro Township Board and the residents of Munro Township for building a new fire hall for the Inverness Fire Department.

Robert Lake, foreman of the Cheboygan County Road Commission says the culvert on Silver Strand Road does not need to be extended. The culvert on Van Road should be extended. The beavers are creating dam problems. Robert Lake said they are aware of the road problems all around the whole county.

Audrey Valot, asked if there was a blight ordinance in the township. Ms. Valot lives next door to Jerald Bassett on Silver Strand Road who's property is full of junk. Antkoviak explained that there is no ordinance in the county, the county has no one to enforce the ordinance.

Pam Kitchen of Munro Lake Drive, asked how Weadock Road got tarred and chipped and how Munro Lake Drive could be paved. Ankoviak explained that Walt Romanik matched the County Road Commission's matching funds to pave Weadock Road. The township did not pay anything. Ginop explained that the residents on Munro Lake Drive should be contacted and asked if they would be interested in being assessed and have a plan on how they would pay for it. Antkoviak said 51% of the property owners must agree before anything can be done.

The November 11, 2003 meeting will be held at the fire hall. Winter meetings will be at the fire hall until the April Annual Meeting.

Tracey made the motion to adjourn, Haig second the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
