MUNRO TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
January 13, 2004

PRESENT:  Antkoviak, Ginop, Tracey    ABSENT:  Dotski, Haig

OTHERS PRESENT: Richard Buehler, Ed Ginop, Wil Mandrick, Don Rader, Paul Nows, Walter Nows, Jackie & Quinter Burnett.

The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Antkoviak at 7:30 p.m. at the fire hall.

Pledge to the flag was recited.

A motion by Tracey, supported by Ginop to accept the minutes of the December 11, 2003 meeting. Motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE:

• Ginop read a letter from fireman Pat Lake.

• Cheboygan Co. Road Commission requested the minutes of the townships.  Ginop said the road commission should exchange their minutes with the townships.

• Munro Twp. Has $8275.83 for total available funds for road projects.   Ginop suggested setting up a road committee with one person from each district, Munro Lake, Douglas Lake and the southern section of the township.  This committee could recommend to the board what road project to consider doing with the money available.

• Michigan Township Association’s Annual Conference is January 27-30^th in Lansing.  Supervisor Antkoviak plans to attend.

• Board of Review training Feb. 25^th in Sault Sainte Marie.  Cost is $20.00 each person.

• Huron Pines Resource Council –  Their Annual Meeting is in Hillman.

• The American Red Cross – asking if anyone knows of a hero and would like to  nominate them, the deadline is  Feb. 14^th.

• The Cheboygan Co. Const. Code Department issued 3509 permits in 2003, Munro had 137 permits issued.

PAYMENT OF BILLS:   Tracey made the motion to pay the January bills amounting to $2,524.12, supported by Ginop.  Motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS:  None

NEW BUSINESS:

Robert Lewis resigned from the Board of Review.  Tracey made a motion to appoint Walt Nows to replace Mr. Lewis.  Antkoviak supported the motion.  All favored saying “Aye”.

Inverness Fire Dept. reported that Munro Township had 5 runs for 2003.

Residents agreed that Memorial Day weekend would be a good time for the Annual Clean-up/Trash pick Up Day.  Ginop will contact 3 sanitation companies for bids.  It was commented that last year’s hauler,PAC Sanitation did a great job of hauling away, steel, sofas and mattresses.

WHINES, GRIPES & MOANS:  Paul Nows asked why the road commission plows the black top roads first. Antkoviak reported that the Class A roads are done first, (US 27) primary, (Levering Road) than secondary roads last.

A motion by Tracey to adjourn the meeting was supported by Antkoviak.   The meeting adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
