Munro Township Board Meeting
June 10, 2008
Munro Township Hall, 7:30 p.m

PRESENT: Antkoviak, Ginop, Dotski, Mandrick ABSENT: Tracey

OTHERS PRESENT: Paul Nows, Walt Nows, Frank Spezia, Patricia and Keith Sipperley, Ed Ginop, Kathy Bricker and Janet Enos.

The monthly meeting was called to order by Supervisor Antkoviak at 7:30 p.m. Pledge to the flag was recited.

MINUTES – Mandrick made the motion to accept the meeting minutes of May 13, 2008 as presented, supported by Dotski. Motion carried.

Kathy Bricker and Janet Enos gave an informative report on Cheboygan County’s Recycling Update. There has been a great response for local residents who are using the recycling bins. Board members and residents seen what can not be thrown in the bins such as plastic items. There is going to be a hazardous Waste recycling day in late June. Notice should be published in the newspaper.

BILLS – Mandrick made the motion to pay the May bills amounting to $10,930.27, supported by Dotski. Motion carried.

CORRESPONDENCE

  1. FEMA – Flood Plan
  2. Cheboygan Citizens Pool Committee received $209,000.00 from Frances Spies to build a community pool. Meeting will be at the Cheboygan Hospital meeting room June 25th.
  3. Cheboygan County Road Commission – Stripping of roads.
  4. Forest Twp. Wants townships to change their decision from 5 back to 3 road commissioners.
  5. Cheboygan County added an amendment to their recycling agreement for collecting delinquent recycling fees. Ginop made the motion to approve the wording on the amendment, supported by Mandrick. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Brine was spread on the township roads for dust control. Since the brine was spread, it has rained. The board hopes that brine was not washed away.
  2. The new trees in the cemetery are all growing.
  3. Charles Hoffmann is running for District Court Judge in the August 5th Primary Election. He is asking for Munro’s support.

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Paul Nows said that Silver Strand Road is now in bad shape. The rains have made big bumpy holes in the road.
  2. Mike Charboneau will be starting on the work at the hall sometime soon.

Mandrick made the motion to adjourn the meeting, supported by Dotski. The meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
