PRESENT:  Antkoviak, Ginop, Dotski, Tracey, Haig

OTHERS PRESENT:  Jackie & Quinter Burnett, Don Rader, Richard Buehler, Wil Mandrick, Walter & Paul Nows, Ed Ginop, County Commissioner Linda LaChapelle

Supervisor Antkoviak called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the fire sub station.

Pledge to the flag was recited.

Tracey made the motion to accept the April 8, 2003 minutes, supported by Haig

Munro Township has been granted one mill for operating by the Cheboygan County Allocation Board.

Wil Mandrick, Howard Gilbertson and Mark Paddock attended the Black River Watershed meeting.  Next meeting will be June 5th at Commissioner’s Room at County Building.

CORRESPONDANCE:

Antkoviak received the permit from the Cheboygan County Road Commission to apply brine for the roads. Pat Lake and Charles drove the township roads, checking where the brine should be spread.  Paul Nows suggested that the County should grade before applying the brine.  Using a grader to grade the roads instead of a truck does a better job.

Mark Mercer is asking the zoning Board for a variance to build a garage on 8450 Silver Strand Rd.

Residents will receive two tax bills, one in July for the State Education taxes and the rest of the tax bill will be sent out in December.

Tracey made motion to pay bills amounting to $20,090.34, Dotski Second the motion.  Motion carried.

FIRE HALL:

On May 8th the Inverness Fire Department and Munro Township signed a lease for the fire hall on 8872 Levering Road.  Lease is for five years with the option for five more years.

Antkoviak said he thought that Don Spray was going to put in the fill water line in the fire hall.  If not, Charlie, Dan and Rob Socha and Joe Antkoviak will put it in.

A foam truck is being looked into for the fire hall.  This truck costs less, and only two men can operate it.  Munro has only 4 firemen and this truck would be ideal for the men to respond to a fire or accident.

CEMETERY:

Bids were opened for grass cutting and trimming at the cemetery and hall for the year 2003.

Bid from Don Bur for year was $1,700.00.   A bid from Dale Dotski was for $480.00 per cutting. Ginop stated that the bid was for the whole year.   Haig made the motion to accept Don Bur’s bid, supported by Tracey.  Motion carried.

Clean up day for the cemetery will be Thursday, May 15, 2003 at 4:00 p.m.  A pot luck dinner will follow the clean up bee.

Mr. Rex Beach purchased two lots in the township cemetery.

Antkoviak asked that the clerk order a Dell computer for his assessing work.  Ginop reported that Dell’s special had ended back in April. Matthew will check online to see what kind of special offers are being offered now.

Ginop asked if new shrubs could be purchased for the fire hall.  The bushes that were planted last fall were torn out of the Cheboygan Chamber of Commerce lawn and transplanted to the fire hall.  After a lot of watering, they did not make it over the winter and died.  Paul Nows suggested buying from a nursery.  Tracey said he’d check on shrubs and also contact Dave Sidell about wood chips. Ginop Const. donated all the wood chips they had last fall but ran out before the project was finished.

Tracey made the motion to adjourn the meeting, supported by Linda N. Ginop
