MUNRO TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
October 10, 2006
Munro Hall, 7:30 p.m.
PRESENT: C. Antkoviak, L. Ginop, C. Dotski, D. Tracey, W. Mandrick
OTHERS PRESENT: Paul Nows, Walter Nows, Patricia & Keith Sipperley, Jackie & Quinter Burnett, Edward Ginop, Keith Ginop.
Supervisor Antkoviak called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. with the pledge to the flag.
MINUTES - Tracey made the motion to accept the September 12, 2006 meeting minutes, supported by Mandrick. Motion carried.
BILLS - Tracey made the motion to pay the September bills amounting to $3,673.79, supported by Mandrick. Motion carried.
CORRESPONANCE
- Mr. Wayne Wheelock donated $100.00 to the Munro Cemetery Memorial Fund.
- MDOT will have a state and local transportation workshop at the Cheboygan County Road Commission office in Indian River, November 1, 2006 at 9:00 a.m.
- Received a letter from Mr. Albert West of the Northeast Michigan Affordable Housing, asking townships to participate in a program for affordable housing for homeless people in Cheboygan County. After some discussion, it was decided to get more information from Mr. West. It was suggested that Mr. West be invited to be a guest speaker at a future MTA Meeting.
- Munro Township will be allocated 1 mill for 2007.
- Antkoviak stated that there were 6 sales under 60% of his assessments, there will be no increase in taxable valuation this year.
OLD BUSINESS
- Mandrick went down to the Douglas Lake Park and inspected the area. Mandrick took some pictures of the wooden fence built by the Biological Station on the park property.
NEW BUSINESS
- Mandrick reported that at a recent MTA meeting, a township official asked whether all townships in Cheboygan County would like to have a program to recycle old tires.
- Each township would have to have a place for the tires to be collected; cost would be about $1.00 per tire. Discussion was held, Jackie Burnett would get a cost from Emmett County Recycle Program on what they charge for tires.
- BLIGHT ORDINANCE - There is a need for an ordinance but Cheboygan County will not adopt or enforce an ordinance.
Next Township meeting will be November 14th at the fire hall located on Levering Road.
Tracey made the motion to adjourn the meeting, supported by Mandrick. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
